Gary Sernovitz joined Lime Rock in 2004 and became a Managing Director in 2011 with responsibilities for the firm’s investor relations and business development efforts. He oversees the firm’s fundraising, investor reporting and communications, limited partner co-investing, public relations, marketing, and internal firm strategic development efforts. He also works with Lime Rock’s portfolio companies on strategic branding and marketing initiatives. Previously, he worked in the Investment Research Department of Goldman Sachs where he had primary coverage of the Latin American energy and chemical sectors.

Gary is also a writer on business, energy, and culture.  He has written four books, including The Counting House, a novel about investment management, and a non-fiction book, The Green and the Black: The Complete Story of the Shale Revolution, the Fight over Fracking, and the Future of Energy.  He is a regular contributor to Bloomberg Weekend Edition and has also published essays, articles, and reviews for The New Yorker online, the New York Times, New York, the Wall Street Journal, and n+1, among others. Gary currently serves on the board of Touro Synagogue New Orleans and Sustaining our Urban Landscape and is on investment committees of the Greater New Orleans Foundation and JCC New Orleans Foundation. He is a graduate of Cornell University (B.A.) and is based in New Orleans.
